Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act
In the result of the waterbridge scandal where Nixon was lead to be found guilty of abusing powers. Four Cuban Americans and one American had broken into the national Democratic National Committee. The act was enacted March 27, 2002 that amended the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 which regulates the financing of political campaigns.

3.The increased role of soft money in campaign financing, by prohibiting national political party committees from raising or spending any funds not subject to federal limits, even for state and local races or issue discussion.4. This act was supposed to prevent the abuse of power and giving candidates more of chance when it came to running financially. It also decreased the role of soft money in political campaigns as the law places limits on the contributions by interest groups and national political parties.5.The original intent has been exploited loopholes
