Storyboard Text
Hi! My name is Elizabeth Martin. I just recently moved to Walkerville School in Toronto. I'm on a wheelchair because both of my legs are paralyzed.
How am I suppose to get in the school?
Sorry, we don't have any wheelchair access for you.
But your supposed to have wheelchair access by law.
We're not required to have any wheelchair access for students. Get a student to help you in the school.
My equality rights have been ignored by my school. My school won't help me out with any wheelchair access.
Narrator: Elizabeth decides to write a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission. Her complaint got accepted.
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
Elizabeth, we will talk to the school about your complaint.
Thank you so much! This means a lot to me.
Sorry Elizabeth for ignoring your equality rights. We've included elevators and ramps in the school now.
