  • When Boo Radley stabs his father with scissors in the leg. It is important because his father passes, making his brother come home to fill his father's shoes. (Pages 11 and 12)
  • Chapter 4 
  • Chapter 5
  • When Miss Caroline put Scout in the corner for trying to explain Walter Cunningham's family situation. She put Scout in the corner after she slapped her hand with a ruler. It is significant because this shows how Scout and her teacher do not get along and why she doesn't like school.  (Page 22)
  • Chapter 6 
  • In this scene Scout is pushing Walter's face into the dirt for him getting her into trouble with the teacher. In this scene we see a little bit more of how Walter's family is poor and how Scout doesn't realize that stating it out loud was rude. (Page 22)
  • This is when Scout rolls the tire into the Radley's yard. After they soon started playing a game pretending to be the Radley family. It is important due to the fact that it starts their attempts to see Boo.  (Page 38)
  • While Jem and Dill start becoming better friends, Scout starts befriending Miss Maudie. This is important because Scout starts to learn that Miss Maudie believes Boo is a good kid and his dad is the mean one. (Pages 43-45)
  • Jem has to slip out of his pants to get unstuck from the Radley Fence. Soon telling a lie that the kids were playing with matches. This makes Boo sneak out of the house and make contact with them later on. (Page 54)
