While Michael, an ex-marine, was running the Boston Marathon, he broke his leg and needed surgery.
Luckily, because Michael was in the marines he is eligible for health care from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. This program also provides veterans with money for food, education, life insurance, and housing.
Michael and Kate both enjoy working out and running
Michael (31), Kate (30), are both employed but don't make very much money. With paying for food and rent for them and their 3 year old son Shawn, it will be hard for them to pay for Michael's medical bill.
Because of the US Department of Veteran Affairs, Michael's surgery and physical therapy expenses were covered and his family didn't have to stress about paying for it. Michael and his family are working hard to improve their self sufficiency by working as many hours as possible so that they can soon buy their own house.
