  • Captain! She can't hear you! She's deaf and blind!!
  • Helen!?! Your eyes...
  • Helen!!
  • I have decided to--give you another chance.
  • At the doctors office, Helen who was only 18 months old, was diagnosed with acute congestion and she was told she would be fine. Soon after the appointment Helen wasn't reacting to Kate yelling her name and her eyes were grey. Kate and Captain Keller then realized that Helen was blind and deaf.
  • I have an idea! I need control of Helen day and night, I need her to depend on me for food. We can use the garden house in the back yard to live in.
  • Fine... You will only have two weeks and two weeks only!
  • Annie began teaching Helen and spelled words into her hand in sign language. Helen and Annie got in a huge fight. It started because Annie was training Helen to eat off her own plate, use a spoon, and fold her napkin. Helen went crazy and is being taught discipline by Annie. Annie values discipline, she said that being undisciplined is a blindness itself. Helen had been undisciplined because her parents didn't want to deal with her so they just gave or candy and some reward. They allowed her to do just about anything.
  • Come refill this pitcher with me right now!!!!
  • Captain Keller began to be very disappointed in the lack of things Annie was able. He had a discussion with Kate to fire her, but Kate said he would have to tell her. Once they had got in the room and were in the middle of addressing Annie, Captain Keller felt bad and didn't fire her. Keller gave Annie another chance but said he would not tolerate rude attitude toward him.
  • Wah-wah
  • You've finally learned a word means something!!
  • Right after Captain Keller almost fired Annie, she came up with a brilliant idea to teach Helen. The final deal was to Annie was she had two weeks. In those two weeks she would live in the garden house and have 24/7 control of Annie with Percy. Once those two weeks were over she wanted more time because Helen had not learned that a word means something.
  • The two weeks were over and they had a special meal for dinner because Helen had returned. Helen realized she was back with her parents and started acting undisciplined again. Annie wouldn't let Helen act like that after all her training, but everyone else didn't mind her acting like that. Annie didn't tolerate it and made her refill the pitcher.
  • Once Annie and Helen got to the pump they started pumping the water and refilling the pitcher. Annie was also trying to teach Helen a word means something when they were there. Annie put Helen hand in the water and spelled water. Helen then was able to make out the words "wah-wah". Annie was very happy and put Helen's hand on things and had her spell it. Annie had taught Helen a word means something.
