You must kill the baby at birth to prevent this from happening!
The night before Paris was born, Queen Hecuba was cursed with terrible dreams.
Take my baby and kill him.
In her dreams, she saw the birth of her baby, but instead of a baby boy, she gave birth to a flaming torch! This torch burned fiercely and engulfed Troy, destroying it completely.
Hecuba told her husband, he decided to consult the prophets about the nightmares. They believed that the dreams were an omen of the future, and instructed the king to have the baby killed at birth to prevent the dream from happening.
The king didn't want to kill his own child, so he asked his chief herdsmen Agelaos to take the baby and kill him. So when the baby was born, Agelaos took the baby to the mountains of Troy.
However, Paris, the baby, was an exceptionally beautiful child, and Agelaos couldn't bring himself to kill him. So, he decided to leave Paris on the mountains so that the animals would kill him. But when Agelaos returned, Paris was being cared for by a family of bears.
Agelaos believed that that was a sign from the gods, and he refused to kill the baby. He then took Paris to raise secretly as his own son.
