Joseph's 10 older brothers disliked him as he had a higher birth right. This meant that his father Jacob favoured him more than his other brothers. Resulting in this, Joseph got given a coat of many colours. This made his brothers jealous. Joseph has a dream that his brother had to bow down to him, but when his brothers heard, they were angry.

After throwing Joseph down the well, the brothers took him out a few hours later and sold him to the Ishmaelities who would take him to Egypt to work for 20 pieces of silver.

Joseph's older brothers faked his death by killing a goat and dipping the ripped coat in its blood. After this, they took the coat to their father and told him that Joseph had been torn to pieces and eaten by some wild animal.

Joseph was taken to Egypt and was bought by Potiphar who's intention was for him to work as a slave for wife. Potiphar's wife took advantage of Joseph. One day when Potiphar was away, she asked Joseph to lie with her. Joseph knew this was wrong and said no to her. Making Potiphar's wife angry.
Since Potiphar's wife was angry about Joseph not sleeping with her, she told her husband and said that Joseph tried to sleep with her when he was away. Potiphar believes his wife and gets angry with Joseph throwing him into prison.
A few years later, the pharaoh becomes angry with his cup bearer and baker, and puts them into prison. One night, both the baker and the cup bearer have weird dreams but they don't know the meaning of them. They tell Joseph and with God's help, he explains the meaning of them.
