Storyboard Text

  • Wisconsin, 1971.
  • But Mother says that I am not allowed to come back to school next year.
  • I understand that, but the state requires that all children attend school until at least the age of 16. If your parents do not send you to school they will be fined.
  • Mother and Father should hear this.
  • Later that same day...
  • Absolutely not; our faith forbids it.
  • Today at school my teacher told me that I must stay in school until I am at least 16.
  • This is a clear violation of our First Amendment rights! If the state refuses to respect our faith then we shall settle this in court!
