Louis David Riel was born on October 22, 1844. He could speak English, french and Cree fluently which made it easier to speak with the Metis, Scottish and french Metis.

The Metis needed a translator because the surveyors were going to their land to prepare it so Louis Riel spoke to the surveyors and told them to leave their land immediately. He was important to this committee and a well-known Metis family of francophone community.

Many Ontarian's thoughts that Louis Riel was traitor and a murder so they wanted him hanged. Riel was then sentenced to be hanged. On November 16, 1885 he died at the age of 41.
