My fellow knights and I have entered the castle. We are all competing to get there first.
Watch out! There are poison darts shooting from the walls
It seems that we have gotten lost in a series of tight passageways
"Split up and explore the different paths"
After sex, the sperm begins its journey to fertilize the egg. This journey starts in the vagina.
250 million sperm enter the vagina with 99% of them dying within 30 minutes. Deadly acids kill off the sperm as they are meant to protect the vagina from pathogens.
Around 60,000 remaining sperm now must navigate single file through tiny channels in the cervical canal. Most of them however will die from getting stuck in one of the tens of thousands of passageways.
I have found the Queens gold! As a reward the queen will allow me to keep a small portion.
About 3,000 of the remaining sperm have to navigate through the uterus to the fallopian tube. The sperm are attacked by white blood cells however who were launched by the female body's immune system.
Approximately 10- 30 sperm make it into the fallopian tube and safe from the white blood cells. Sperm are provided nourishment so they are able to stay alive for days.
I need to stop in this room and regain my energy
The remaining sperm race to find the egg first after sensing the chemical the egg puts out to attract them. Once the sperm makes contact with the egg the head of the sperm releases enzymes and fertilizes the egg
