You have to sell my book about how to rob a person at gunpoint!
If you can sell that other book, you have to sell mine about how to die!
Kill me now
Amazon is not known to censor what they sell on their site; especially when it comes to works of literature. They do not believe that it is up to them to limit what types of items the consumer wants. According to ABCNews.com, in response to a self-published author's book about how to be a "proper pedophile" "Amazon did not respond to multiple requests for comment from ABCNews.com, but in a statement Wednesday, the company defended the book's place in its online store." (Heussner, 2010). Of course, this incensed thousands of people. How could Amazon's public relations not respond to the outrage and basically defend the sale of a book that describes how to commit a crime?! Eventually, the book was removed from Amazon's offerings because they felt it fell under the law that child pornography is unlawful to distribute. It should not have had to go that far. As a PR rep for Amazon, I would have gotten ahead of the story after the first review, Tweet, post, etc. The fact that Amazon had no comment would have been corporate suicide to any other company, but lucky for them they are just too big to fall. As my comic depicts, if one book like this was allowed, what in the world would follow?!
