Storyboard Description

period 7

Storyboard Text

  • Species tend to overproduce offspring so more can survive to maturity.
  • Why are there so many caterpillars in one area?
  • It's a part of natural selection.
  • Really?
  • Yeah. But that's just part one.
  • Variation is also an important factor. See how some are red and some are yellow?
  • Right! So if a predator comes by, all the yellows will survive, and all the reds are easy prey
  • But the red ones aren't
  • Well, the yellow caterpillars blend in better with the flowers.
  • The better adapted caterpillars will pass the same genes onto their offspring
  • And the species will start to evolve!
  • Exactly!
  • I get it now! Thanks!
