Jack is one of the most ironic characters in the Lord of the Flies.
This moment is ironic because at first Jack wanted to enforce the rules. However, he ended up being the first person to break them as he became wild. Jack wants to control people and because of this he strays farther and farther from the ideals of civilization as he becomes savage. In this moment he contradicts himself in an example of irony.
