"Hi! I'm Francis Scott Key, the lawyer and poet, you may know me from my greatest song hit, "The Star Spangle Banner". Anyways I'm going to be telling you a little about my life. "
"By 1805 I had began my law career. I started out in Georgetown, then in Washington DC."
Key witnessed and fought in the War of 1812. Even though he thought the conflict could be solved without war, he still joined the Georgetown Light Field Artillery.
"During the war my colleague, Dr. William Beanes, was captured. Since I'm such an amazing lawyer, I was able to negotiate his freedom."
"As the British continued bombing the fort, I was surprised that it didn't break down. After awhile the British gave up and we won the war."
"After the war I wrote a poem about my experience. That poem, "The Star Spangled Banner", became our national anthem March 3, 1931."
