The Boll Weevil's Effects
This storyboard does not have a description.
Farmer Jed, and his wife Marie, were hard-working people that lived their day-to-day life on their farm. Their cotton production was their only source of income, so it was important that they took care of their cotton well, especially since the cotton prices were beginning to drop.
One hot day, in the year of 1915, a strange sort of bug was spotted on Jed and Marie's cotton. At first, Jed and his wife simply shooed the bug away, and thought nothing of it. However as time went on...
What is that?
I don't know...
More and more of these bugs (the Boll Weevil), were spotted on the plants, and were slowly starting eat up and wipe out Jed and Marie's cotton.
AHHHHH! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!
Pretty soon, the Boll Weevils ate up all of Jed and Marie's cotton, leaving them with no cotton, no income, and no living.
The Boll Weevils unfortunately affected many of GA's farmers, ravaging their cotton fields, and decreasing the farmers' prospects for making a living.
Soon after, a three-year-long drought occurred. The drought, plus the boll weevil bug, plus the cotton drop, effected GA's economy quite a bit, and just contributed to the Great Depression in GA. However, farmers learned how to diversify their crops, and not depend too much on one crop.
