Martin Luther King Jr was a powerful speaker. He spoke about laws that separated blacks and whites from schools and jobs.
Martin was a good student. He finished HS early. At 15 he entered college in Alabama. In college Martin decided to become a minister.
In 1954 he began his first job as a pastor in Alabama. He led marches and protests.
Martin Luther King Jr led a protest. Blacks throughout the city refused to ride on the buses because of Rosa Parks. Martin Luther King Jr said "There comes a time where people get tired of being kicked about."
In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr led the biggest march of all. Over 200,000 whites and blacks followed him. He said "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will be judged not by the color of there skin, but by the content of there character."
In April 1968 Martin Luther King Jr went to Memphis Tennessee. He planned to march. He stood outside his hotel room while James Earl Ray was hiding with a gun and shot Martin Luther King Jr. He died one hour later.
