The French and Indian War also known as the Seven Years War (1756-1763) The British and American Colonies against the French and the Natives.
The Parliament came up with a list of acts to tax the colonies in order to be repayed.

Mercantilism and the Triangle Trade provided a favorable balance of trade but only for Great Britain which didn’t sit well with the colonies.
The Quartering Act of 1765. It required the provision of housing, food and drink to British troops.
The Townshend Acts placed taxes on items imported by the colonists including glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. Merchants in Boston and New York boycotted Britain goods until the Townshend Acts were repealed.
