I was able to see the use of questioning for comprehension come alive during my whole group lesson. Students seemed enagaged with the lesson and were eager to answer questions. Also, working with my CT allowed me to see how important collaboration is for students best interest.
Students stayed on task during my lessons and were very engaged with the material. They enjoyed the interdisciplinary activity that I used and had meaningful discussions regarding character traits.
Choosing a text for this assignment was hard for me. I wanted to use the picture book, Chrysantemum by Kevin Henkes, to teach charcter traits. However based on the time I had to teach the lesson, I chose a shorter reading passage, I also thought that the book may not have been an appropriate level for the 4th grade class.
Students felt comfortable during my visits. I would like to have been able to incorporate group work during my whole group lesson, but time was a factor. Also, with the current state of Covid and constant school closures, this was difificult to do.
Having varied tasks for the students to complete really helped with student involvement. During my whole group lesson, the students really enjoyed the art activity that I incorporated. I would have liked to include more partner work during whole group.
