  • I feel like the tone of this story is sad and thrilling. At the start of the story we here about Doodle's parents planning his death right when he was born. I chose this scene where their was a storm and he gets electrocuted by lightning and his brother finds him dead. This scene set the tone for the whole story as a sad and thrilling story.
  • Style
  • "The last graveyard flowers were blooming, and their smell drifted across the cotton field and through every room of our house, speaking softy the names of our dead." The word choice in this  quote exemplifies the sad and eerie tone of the story. This is a picture of a graveyard. I think it shows the sad feeling that Doodle's death brought into the house.
  • Theme
  • "Doodle was just about the craziest brother a boy ever had." I think this shows the narrators affection for Doodle in the simplest way possible and how doodle will always be a big part in the narrators life. In the picture we see the two brothers together with a heart in between them to symbolize their love.
  • In this story we see a story spoke from the narroators point of view as it happened . Therefore, it is both a expository and narrative story. Since it is a first hand experience it comes as very raw and emotional. In this picture we see the family picking out a coffin for their newly born child, Doodle
  • The overall theme of the story is to respect people for who they are. In the story we see countless times Doodle's brother trying to make him normal instead of treating him for who he truly is.  If he was treated like who he was maybe he wouldn't have died. In this scene we see a funeral where Doodle eventually ends up.
