  • Timber, Fishing, and whaling industries were the way the puritans made money because they lived in a very rocky area and it was unsuitable for crops such as cash crops.
  • Geographic
  • The men get together to vote on things that would be in the laws of God. They wanted a colony based on laws of God because they believed god would protect them if they obeyed his laws.
  • The puriatist came to Plymouth for religious freedom from the church of England and they created rules to there religion and they were very strict. They believed that if you went away from the religion and practiced black magic you were a witch, which started the salem witch trials.
  • Plymouth had very rocky soil, in Massachusetts. There was great fishing spots and great timber, which made it super easy to sell. The rocky soil made it hard to plant crops however small farm were created and subsistence farming was created for the settlers to live off of vegetables.
