  • Love
  • I hate being touched. However it calms him knowing i am willing to hug him.
  • Logic v. Emotion
  • Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!
  • Mother died a while ago. I don't see a reason to be sad.
  • Order v. Disorder
  • Why do the chairs have to be in the SAME EXACT POSITION!?!
  • It isn't right if they are not. They would be in the wrong place.
  • Christopher's father shows gives Chris a "finger-tip hug". Christopher realizes that this is his father's way of expressing love.
  • Betrayal
  • Christopher reveals to Ms. Alexander that his mother has been dead for 2 years. Ms. Alexander reacts emotionally, but Christopher only reacts logically.
  • Trust
  • Christopher's mother is exasperated by his constant rearranging of the living room furniture to the way it was before. Her disregard for the position and his obsessiveness shows the theme of Order v. Disorder.
  • Communication
  • Christopher, Go. Home.
  • Christopher realizes that his mother is alive while reading her letters. He becomes aware that he has betrayed by his father.
  • *Groan*
  • Christopher reveals that at one point he did not know a teacher at school. He does not talk to them at all for months until he knows they are harmless. This shows that trust is very important to Christopher
  • She has been here two weeks, 4 days, and 8 hours. It may be time to "trust" her.
  • Christopher asks Mrs. Shears what had happened on the night of Wellington's murder. He is unaware of her anger and irritation that he won't leave the subject alone. This shows that Christopher has lots of difficulty with communication.
  • But what happened the night of his murder?
