Storyboard Text

  • Ms. Smith, I am observing your lack of seriousness in your work these days. May I ask you the reason for your recent slacking attitude and numerous leaves from work?
  • I-I am sorry, boss.
  • Oh, geez. My skin looks so bad. And I even gained 4 pounds. All that drinking and eating junk food is catching up to me.
  • Mia, I am very disappointed with your behavior . Why have you been ignoring everyone lately? Your father and I have been worried sick.
  • Your friends have been asking me about you. They deserve an explanation too, don't you think?
  • I am sorry, mother. i will apologize to my friends too.
  • I am your mother, Mia. I can tell when something is bothering you. What's wrong?
  • I am confused, mom. I read about self-care and how it's important to give time to yourself. But, when I tried to do just that and relax a bit, I ended up slacking off at work, disappointing you and my friends and even gaining a lot of weight.
  • Oh, my dear. You misinterpreted the meaning of self-care. There is a fine line btw self-care and self sabotage and you have crossed it.
  • Self-care is for restoring your well-being, but you have got it confused with laziness and evading responsibilities.
  • I-I think I finally understand.
  • So tell me, honey. What did you just learn?
  • Exactly, honey. I am proud of you.
  • Thanks, mom. I'll never forget this again.
  • I get it now, mom. I need to maintain a balance btw giving time to myself and taking care of my responsibilities. Self-care should be used for re-setting & re-energizing the mind and body and not as an excuse to evade work.
