Storyboard Text

  • King Louis XIV called the Estates-General on May 5, 1789. It was a general meeting where representatives from each estate gathered to discuss the problems France was facing.  
  • I have called everyone here to discus the social, political, and economic problems France is facing for the first time since 1614! 
  • On July 14, 1789 French citizens stormed the castle holding French prisoners not to release them but to get arms and ammunition to rebel.
  • Get the guns and burn it down!
  • On July 20, 1789 The  National Assembly met at a tennis court because they were locked out of a meeting where they promised to not disband until a new constitution was created. 
  • YEAH!!
  • We will not disband until a just constitution is formed!
  • On January 21, 1973 King Louis XVI was executed via guillotine. The French people celebrated his death. 
  • In March 1793 Maximilien Robespierre leads the Committee of Public Safety and the Reign of Terror begins.
