Storyboard Text

  • "Mr. Ewell, can you read and write?"
  • "Would you write your name for us?"
  • "I most positively can."
  • "You're left-handed, Mr. Ewell."
  • "If her right eye was blackened and she was beaten mostly on the right side of her face, it would tend to show that a left-handed person did it."
  • "Mayella Violet Ewell! Explain what you remember."
  • "He got me round the neck, cussin' me an' sayin' dirt. I fought 'n' hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin an' agin."
  • "I don't remember too good, but next thing I knew Papa was in the room a'standing over me hollerin' who done it, who done it?
  • "Then I sorta fainted."
  • Atticus asks Bob Ewell if he is able to read and write. Bob Ewell replies that he can and Atticus asks him to write his name on an envelope he handed him.
  • Judge Taylor states that Bob Ewell is left-handed. Scout thinks that since Mayella had a black right eye, she was most likely beaten by a left-handed person.
  • "I was goin' home as usual when Ms. Ewell says for me to come help her a minute.
  • "I got down offa chair an' turned around an' she-she hugged me."
  • "She says to just step on that chair yonder an' git that box down from on top of the chiffarobe."
  • Judge Taylor asks Mayella Ewell what happened.
  • GUILTY!!!
  • Mayella burst into tears and was escorted outside. Judge Taylor asks Tom Robinson what happened.
  • "Tom Robinson, explain your part of the story."
  • Tom Robinson explains his part of the story.
  • "She reached up an' kissed me 'side of th' face. She says she never kissed a grown man before an' she might as well kiss a nigger."
  • Judge says Tom Robinson is guilty.
