On a cold night in Denmark, at the castle of Elsinore, two guards re visited by a strange spirit who resembles their recently deceased king, Hamlet Sr. they summon his son Hamlet Jr., who walks and talks with the ghost. the ghost tells him that the nature of his death was not peaceful, but rather that he was murdered by his own uncle, who took the throne after his father died.
Polonius, an advisor to king claudius, warns his daughter away from Hamlet Jr., and the rumored love affair between them. Meanwhile, king claudius appoints two of his servants to spy on and monitor Hamlet Juniors behavior, as he has been acting irritable and sporratic as of late. the true cause of this is the knowledge that his father was murdered by his uncle
In an attempt to catch Claudius' guilty conscience, Hamlet Jr. hires some actors to put on a play recreating the murder of Hamlet Sr. Just as Hamlet jr. suspected, Claudius stormed out after the play in a fit of anger
