Shmoby and lobby were pieces of circular and colourful ice. One day Bella wanted to make hot water out of the ice. She decided to use the method of conduction to heat up the ice.
The method of conduction is the transfer of heat energy in solids through the direct collision of particles.
Oh no! I can't find another metal spoon! I guess I have to use one metal spoon and one plastic spoon.
I am on the metal spoon, which is a good heat conductor and that means that metal heats up quickly and transfers heat energy quickly and efficiently. Oh no! I just realized that that means I am melting! Ahhhhh!
Bella put Shmoby on the plastic spoon, so Shmoby was safe. She put Lobby on the metal spoon, so Lobby melted into hot water. Then Bella decided that she wanted to make cookies with the water from Lobby.
Thank you so much grandma for helping me make cookies. Now it's time to bake them
Speaking of baking, how does an oven work anyways?
So that's what Ms. Portnoy was talking about during science cass. I really should listen.
Among other things, ovens use convection to heat up the food. Convection is the transfer of heat in fluids like air.
