Storyboard Text

  • The beginning events of this story take place on Circe's island. Circe explains the dangers that the Sirens and others pose to Odysseus' journey home to Ithaca.
  • Lady Circe and Odysseus are discussing the Sirens, one of several obstacles he will face on his journey to Ithaca.
  • No one has lived through hearing the singing of the Sirens.
  • Then Lady Circe, with your help, I shall be the first to survive their singing.
  • Odysseus is visualizing the Sirens singing and most likely thinking about their beauty to resolve his desire for lust.
  • La-la-la la-la-la.
  • Odysseus is also imagining Scylla and Charybdis and blames Poseidon for all of his troubles at sea, but in truth, has no one to blame but himself.
  • The loveliest of goddesses and Odysseus are discussing the Sirens, one of several obstacles he will face on his journey to Ithaca, "home sweet home."
  • If you want to hear the Sirens sing, have your crew string you to the mast of the ship.
  • Thank you, lady Circe.
  • Odysseus warns his crew of the Sirens and requests to be tied to the mast of the ship without beeswax in his ears so he can hear the Sirens sing their song.
  • Men, we must survive the Sirens' singing to return home. Tie me to the mast so I can hear their song.
