  • Cyrus the Great lived in the 580s BCE, he is from Anshan Iran, he was influenced by his grandfather because he had left him in the mountains to die because he had a dream of Cyrus overthrowing him.
  • He conquered the Median Empire, he conquered the Lydians, He went into Babylonian and took control, and now ruled Mesopotamia, Syria, and Jude, and his empire was the largest at the time.
  • Around the age of twenty-one Cyrus took over the throne as king of Anshan. At this time Anshan was still a vassal state to the Median Empire. Cyrus led a revolt against the Median Empire and by 549 BC he had completely conquered Media. He now called himself the "King of Persia."
