It is the spring of 1846, John C. Fremont arrives at Sutter’s Fort with soldiers. He decides to rebel against Mexico.

I am sick of being a part of Mexico! I want this land to be a part of America
After the many people moving to California in search of gold, they did not want to be a part of Mexico. Fremont and his army win a couple arguments which lead to raising the American flag on California.
GO BEAR FLAGGERS!!

The flag of California Republic had a bear and a star on it once it was annexed from Mexico and became a part of the union in 1850. They were named this, because of Fremont called the soldiers "Bear Flaggers".
