There is a form of monarchy that consists of king or queen as well, but they do not have absolute power, rather they are a national figure of royalty and nothing more. This is called a Constitutional Monarchy.
There usually some advantages and disadvantages of a style of government. An advantage of a monarchy includes that the ruler is not chosen but passed down the royal family, which is good because the family can give good advice and learn from prior mistakes.
A disadvantage is that since there is one absolute leader who decides all, they might make non-agreeable decisions.
An example of both these types of monarchies include Saudi Arabia and the UK. Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy and the UK is a constitutional monarchy.
