  • I need funds and I have this useless tract of land in the US, Louisiana. Ahaha! I could sell it to the Americans! They want the Port, do they want the rest?
  • Faced with of an all-out war with Britain and a Haitian Revolution; Napolean needed the funds to sustain his conquest.
  • When Jefferson sent James Monroe to ask the French if they could buy the Port, Napoleon offered the Americans the entire Louisiana territory.
