When heat is entering or exiting during a phase change the speed and temerature stay the same.
Solids have the highest attractive forces because the molecules are closer together, Gases have the least attractive forces because the molecules are far apart and liquids are in the middle.
When heat enters or exits, the molecules move closer together or farther apart but do not speed up or change temp.
Before or after the phase change when the line is slanted that is when the speed and temperature increase or decrease.
