  • Along the way they encounter many different dangers including: trolls, Orcs, goblins, Gollum, wolves, spiders, and in the end the biggest foe a terrible, evil dragon. Throughout the journey Bilbo develops from a timid homebody into a courageous and loyal hero.

  • "This is a bitter adventure, if it must end so; and not a mountain of gold can amend it. Yet I am glad that I have shared in your perils-that has been more than any Baggins deserves"(Tolkien, 353).
  • I would recommend reading The Hobbit. It is a well written story with plenty of adventure and memorable characters. The plot is exciting and brings the reader into the story with tales of danger and camaraderie. The book is one of the best known and loved fantasy novels and is still read by kids and adults today.
  • Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit. He is short in stature with curly hair and big, hairy feet. He is rather timid and enjoys the comfort of home. He especially enjoys his pipe, and a good visit. He is orderly and does not like chaos. He is especially happy eating his favorite treats including: pies, cakes, eggs, cheese, a pint and tea.
