  • President Roosevelt was sitting in the Oval Office when Alexander Sachs came bursting in holding a black briefcase.
  • Alex, what are you up too?
  • Listen very carefully to what I have to say.
  • Sachs started to explain the warning in Einstein's letter that was adressed to President Roosevelt.
  • The element uranium may be turned into a new and important source of energy in the immediate future.
  • Roosevelt was handed the letter and started to read. Einstein pushed the government to start working closly with physicists to build atomic bombs.
  • What is it?
  • It says,Germany has actually stopped the sale of uranium from the Czechoslovakian mines, which she has taken over.
  • President Roosevelt started to ponder the thought of an atomic bomb in the hands of the Nazis. He could never let that happen!
  • This requires action!
  • I am so amazed right now. How are you driving?
  • On June 19, 1942, President Roosevelt picked up Winston Churchill in his Ford convertible from a small U.S. Army plane.
  • I have very strong biceps. Want to feel?
  • So its agreed. We will build this bomb together.
  • Later in his office at home, they began talking about the atomic bomb. They both agreed that an atomic bomb could be possible. Soon they came to the conclusion that they needed to work together.
