pilivin et el experiment on train
This storyboard does not have a description.
The experiment took place on 8th avenue train between stop 59 and stop 125. In New York.
There was the adjacent area and the critical area. The victim fell over in the critical area and there were observers placed in the adjacent area to record passengers on the train.
The passengers were 45% black and 55% white, recorded by the observers. The experiment was generalisable because passengers came from different backgrounds. It also had high ecological validity.
70 seconds after the train begins its journey an actor (either acting ill or drunk) fell over to see who would help him.
70 seconds or 150 seconds after the actor collapses another actor called the model would go over to the fallen man and help him to see if this encourages any passengers to help.
The Conclusions were if an individual appears ill they are helped over a drunk person. Men are more likely to help. Help comes quickest in greater numbers.
