  • Boston Massacre - 1770
  • Redcoats!
  • Lobster backs!
  • The Boston Tea Party - 1773
  • If the British will only let us buy their tea, then we will throw their tea in the harbor!
  • No more taxes on tea!
  • First Continental Congress - 1774
  • We will send this petition to the king with our requests for change.
  •  We will meet again if conditions do not improve in the colonies.
  • This event was significant because it was used by the colonists as propaganda to make the British look bad to the colonists.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord - 1775
  • This event was significant because it caused the British to impose a punishment on the colonists in the form of the Intolerable  Acts.
  • The Second Continental Congress - 1775
  • We patriots will sign your petition if you let us have a continental army.
  •   This event was significant because it helped set the tone for future colonial resistance when the colonists wrote a petition to King George III listing their complaints against British authority. 
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill - 1775
  • This event was significant because it gave hope to the colonists that they could defeat the British even though the British outnumbered the colonists.

  • This event was significant because the colonists became more confident when the colonial militia suffered significantly fewer casualties than the British.
