  • A Day in the Life of a Slave
  • There was no 9 to 5 for slaves. Daylight controlled their daily hours. 
  • At sunrise, slaves were forced to get up and begin working the field.
  • Things like rain and snow caused slaves to freeze because the wore thin clothes that gave no protection to the body

  • Conditions slaves worked in were brutal.

  • And even in the sunlight, slaves were exhausted and suffered from serious dehydration.  
  • Slaves received the minimum amount of survival materials. Usually, they each got some meat, flour, and sugar to eat. 
  • They were lucky to recieve more than one set of clothing and usually it was very thin, and cheap, material.

  • Black woman became birthing machines to the white man. They were forced to have kids over and over again. Many times the kids were a result of rape from the master.
  • The last few panels were considered better treatment. 
  • Not to mention the brutal torture of being beaten or killed by the master for not following his every order. 
  • There were many slaves who had nothing at all to eat
  • Some walked around naked because their clothes were destroyed and they got no replacements
