In chapter one Elie and his family find out that they are going to be sent away. " There are rumors, my father said, his voice breaking, "that we are being taken somewhere in Hungary to work in the brick factories."(Wiesel 14) This is showing that Elie and his family have to prepare to leave their home and are frantic.
This picture is depicting Jews getting onto the tightly packed cattle cars. "Lying down was not an option, nor could we all sit down." (Wiesel 23) This is showing that the car was packed to tightly that you could not sit down.. In this chapter the Jewish people in the car are jammed and trying to survive with no food or water
"An SS came toward us wielding a club. He commanded:"Men to the let! Women to the right!"" (Wiesel 29) When Elie and his family arrived at the camp they were forced to separate. Not knowing it at this point, Elie would never see his mother and sisters again.
In this chapter Elie, his father, an dthe other men in the Buna are sent to work in Kommandos. "Dozens of Kommandoswere marching off, in step, to the work yards."(Wiesel 49) This is showing that Elie would soon be marching to the work yards in step just like the other prisoners.
Rosh Hashanah was being celebrated in this chapter. "Some ten thousand men had come to participate in a solemn service..."(Wiesel 67) The image depicts a lot of men who came to the Rosh Hashanah service that night.
In this chapter Elie and the other men at the camp are forced to run at a fast pace all through the night. "An icy wind was blowing violently. But we marched with our faltering."(Wiesel 85) The men all day and all night to get to the next camp.
