Her father was sick with the Flu, and stoped writing in the Newspapers. His writing was mostly about how the Nazis were horrible. But one day, Anna woke up to go to school, and went to check on her father, only to discover he wasn't there! She ran out crying
The train will be here soon, and then we'll meet Papa in Switzerland.
Heimpi caught her and said that her father was going to go on a journey, that he was fine and that they were going to miss a little bit of school. Her mother explained to some more things to her. She said that they were going to meet up with him in Switzerland if the Nazis win the elections. Anna and Max talked about leaving Germany.
Hitler nicked all of the stuff that we left behind! He's probably playing our games right now
Anna's 'Onkel' Julius (A family freind) comes often to visit them. He normally visits while they're packing valuables, and says that they're going to be unpacking in 6 months, after the Nazis reign is over and they stop rounding up Jews. However, once a fire had broken out in Berlin and the Nazis said that they're the only one who could put a stop to this, he stopped saying this.
Soon after, Anna, Max and their mother were on the train to Switzerland. Anna missed Heimpi dearly, because Heimpi had to stay behind in Germany for two weeks. Heimpi ends up never coming back to their family. The train ride was boring, but they soon meet up with Anna's father.
Anna and her family stay at an expensive hotel, and Anna soon falls sick. As soon Anna gets better, they move Gasthof Zwirn, an Inn, named after the owner Herr Zwirn. Before that though, Anna learnt that the Nazis had stolen the things that Anna and her family had left behind in Germany, one of the things being her beloved pink rabbit.
