In 1948, in South Africa, the national party gained control of the South and they made a system called apartheid, where they divided people by race. This system was set up for whites or Afrikaners to control (south Africa history and revolution).

In 1990, F. W. de Klerk became president of south Africa because he promised a new constitution and he freed Mandela from prison. They worked together to make south Africa a better place. In 1994 Nelson Mandela became president because everyone will have the right to vote, freedom of religion, belief, oppinion, expression, press and they will get support on housing, food, water, education and health (History of South Africa).
