  • In 1948, in South Africa, the national party gained control of the South and they made a system called apartheid, where they divided people by race. This system was set up for whites or Afrikaners to control (south Africa history and revolution).

  • In 1948, South Africa's Afrikaner leaders insisted that each race should develop separately because they wanted apartness (Apartheid in south Africa).

  • In the 1970's, African school children in south Africa marched through township of Soweto against white rule (History of South Africa).

  • ANC leader, Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962. Companies from around the world limited their businesses in south Africa because they want the government to set Mandela free (History od South Africa).
  • In 1990, F. W. de Klerk became president of south Africa because he promised a new constitution and he freed Mandela from prison. They worked together to make south Africa a better place. In 1994 Nelson Mandela became president because everyone will have the right to vote, freedom of religion, belief, oppinion, expression, press and they will get support on housing, food, water, education and health (History of South Africa).
