  •  Principle 3: Differential Survival and Reproduction
  • In this grassland environment, the grass is green. There are garden snakes that are green and red. Birds like to catch these snakes to eat them.
  • Principle 4: Change in the Gene Pool
  • There is a struggle to survive because the birds are eating the snakes that are most visible to them.
  • Adaptation
  • The green snakes have the advantage because they are less visible to birds up above, whereas the red ones are being eaten more often. The green snakes are reproducing more.
  • Biology
  • As time goes on, the population of garden snakes is becoming more green rather than red. The green color is the new adaptation to the environment.
