  • Thanks for coming
  •     Erikson                                            Piaget
  • No problem, whats up?
  • I wanted to discuss theories, it's clear that development starts at  0 to 1.5 years with Trust vs Mistrust.
  • Whether the child believes its parents will come or it is all alone.
  • I thought this was just coffee...
  • This is followed by Autonomy vs self-doubt from 1.5 to 3 as the child begins to either do tasks by themselves or not. Next from 3 to 6, initiative vs guilt. This is when the child begins to assert themselves more or in contrast develop guilt. At 6 to puberty, the child faces confidence vs inferiority. Either they feel confident about their future going forward or they develop a sense of inferiority and helplessness.
  • I see
  • In adolescence, they face identity vs role confusion. Here they either find themselves or they do not define themselves clearly. In early adulthood, intimacy vs isolation, they either isolate themselves from all others or involve themselves with their peers and friends. In middle adulthood, they face generativity vs stagnation and decide whether they have been productive and generous or have stagnated and produced little results. In late adulthood, they face Ego-integrity vs Despair and in this, they determine whether they have lived a fulfilling life or will die bitter at a life left unlived.
  • That's fascinating
  • Actually, A child begins at the sensorimotor stage from 0 to 2. In this stage, the child relies heavily on its senses and its innate response to stimuli. They also have object permanence and mental representations. From 2 to 6-7 the child is in the Preoperational stage. In this the child has a good grasp on language mental representations, however, they do have animalistic and ego-centric thinking. From 7 to 11, they are in the Concrete operational stage. In this, the child understands conservation, but cannot understand abstract thoughts.
  • Ahh? How delightfully wrong!
  • Well that was not very productive
  • Truly, what was the point here?
  • From 12 to Death, they are in the Formal Operational stage. Here they have complete abstract thought.
