Storyboard Text

  • Captain Henry Wirz was the commander of Andersonville Prison. Andersonville prison took place in Georgia and it held more prisioners at any other Confederate military prsioners
  • Get down on floor soldier!!!
  • Yesssirrrr.
  • The main thing you need to understand about Andersonville prison is that it is the biggest prison in the Confederacy and Captain Henry Wirz (Commander was hanged in Washington, DC on November 10, 1865 on charge of war . It was well known throughoutthe time period of February 27, 1864-April 1865
  • Ekkkkk!
  • Hang him at once!
  • You need to know Andersonville prison because over 13,00 people died in prison instead of the battle field . Andersonville prison impacted our nation because instead of 40,000 soldiers fighting on the battle field they were captured they were captured and out of the 40,000. 13,000 died
  • Something I surprising was that 40,000 prisoners from the Union were captured by the Conferderacy
  • This prison was hurtful to our nation because 40,000 soldiers would've been helpful to the war and nation
  • One thing I found interesting was that in an emergency, eight small earthen forts around the outside of the prison could hold artillery to put down disturbances with the compound and to defend against Union cavalry attacks
