Once upon a time, a very strong man of the Geats, Beowulf, wants to help the king of Denmark, Hrotgar, whose palace is haunted by the monster Grendel.
You killed my poor Grendel... give me only his arm, I don't want you....
In fact Grendel attacks the King's wealthy mead-hall every night, killing and eating Danish warriors.Hrothgar was a great warrior in his time, but now he seems unable to protect his people.
Fifty years later
Beowulf goes to Herot Hall and tries to kill Grendel without any weapons. Grendel tears Grendel's arm from his body and the monster runs away. The king decides to celebrate Beowulf's victory throw a party by night.
I do my best during all my life and now it's my time, but that's my last fight.
Grendel's mum arrives by night to Herot Hall because she wants back her son's arm. Before going away she seize the nearest Danish man: Aeschere, a Hrothgar's friend. Than she comes back to her lair: the lake.
The next day Beowulf swears to Hrotgar he would have revenge for Aescere's death. They follow the footprints of the monsters and, arrived to the lake, Beowulf kills Grendel's mum. Hrothgar gives him a lot of presents and than Beowulf and the Geats come back to Sweden.
After fifty years of peace, because of a man that stolen a precious goblet from a dragon's lair, this dragon starts smouldering Beowulf's mead hall. Beowulf kills him but during the battle he deads. The new king of the Geats builds a beautiful barrow in honour of Beowulf.
