The beginning starts out with the plane crashing on an island, the boys come out of the plane alive surprisingly, then, they walk on the island and find a conch.
The conflict is between Jack and Ralph, they argue about who should be leader for their tribe. They both want to be but there can only be one. They have this argument around where the conch was blown, signaling a meeting for the higher ranks.
The rising action of the story is about Simon's death. He found the beast but then quickly came to the beach and was badly beaten by the boys because they were scared. Also, the find a pig and kill it and it symbolizes how Jack is getting over his fears.
For the climax, Piggy is killed by a boulder. Jack and Ralph also fight each other with spears they made as well.
For the falling action, Jack and his followers hunt Ralph down. They burn the forest to try to smoke out Ralph and kill him. The reason for this is because Jack and Ralph have different views on how the island should be ran.
In the end, a man comes and finds Ralph before Jack could kill him, everyone was crying. They were frightened, scared that everything in life is going to come back to them.
