There is tar in cigarettes and is one of the main causes for respiratory problems. For example, you will get permanent damage to the alveoli and irritation to the trachea and the larynx.
Tobacco smoke can cause a raise in your blood pressure and to your heart rate. It will also cause your blood to become thicker which will make it easier to clot.
Long term smoking can also cause major diseases such as coronary heart diseases, cancer, osteoporosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
