The Fugitive Slave Act is a revision of the original Fugitive Slave Act. It applied much stricter slave laws. It fined people $1000 for helping a slave and put them in jail for 6 months.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act allowed people of Kansas and Nebraska to decide whether or not to allow slavery. The Act repealed the Missouri Compromise of 1820.
Part of the compromise of 1850. Slave trade in Washington, D.C., was abolished. California entered the Union as a free state.
