  • Emma dear, are you okay?
  • This is a nuclear family consisting of two parents and kids. This family is a dual income so both parents work. They have a 15 year old daughter named Emma. Emma has a twin brother, Derek.
  • I don't know, I think I have depression.
  • Hey, Emma are you okay? you're always sad.
  • Emma has been dealing with depression for awhile now as she is always sleeping, she does not feel interested in anything. 
  • We need someone to take care of her all the time.
  • Emma has depression.
  • Emma's mom starts to notice that Emma is always sad, and does not talk as much.
  • you have to stay home watch your daughter while I work. 
  • Derek, who is always supporting Emma. This is when Derek starts to notice as well  Derek realizes that he must contribute to Emma’s life as she is dealing with this illness. Derek’s role as a brother is he asks questions and to share their feelings with one another so she gets better. He reassurance about their own mental health and how it is important that Emma participate in activities and relationships outside the family and to develop their own future plans.
  • Derek tells his parents about Emma's illness as she is refusing help.
  • The parents are constantly fighting. This conflict is between the child and the parents, and between the parents. The parents want their child to be treated so they can become contributing members of society.
