Hi! You will be taking driving lessons from me for the next few weeks.
The first step towards an unrestricted BC driver's license is to take the general knowledge test when you turn 16. You should prepare by studying the "Learn to Drive Smart" textbook and by taking practice tests or by watching videos.
You passed this road test! Here's your N!
You need to have at least 80% in order to pass the general knowledge test. If you don't pass, you can try again after 7 days by paying a fee. If you do, then vision screening is done and your eyes are checked. If everything is good, you get your L or learner's license.
Yay! I'm almost there!
The next step is to practice driving with your L for about a year. You could also take lessons from a driving instructor.
2 years later at the ICBC office...
Woohoo! I did it!
Congrats! You now have a class 5 driver's license!
Once you think that you have had enough practice, it is time for the class 7 road test. If you don't pass, you can try again after 14 days by paying a fee. If you pass the test, you get your N.
Once you have gotten your N, you can drive with it in class 7. Now, it is 2 years of driving with your N until you are able to give the class 5 road test and get your full license.
And finally, it is time to give the class 5 road test. After this, you are a full licensed driver!
