The main characters in Iqbal are Fatima (D'Adamo 1), Iqbal (D'Adamo 9), and Hussain Khan (D'Adamo 1).
The setting in Iqbal is the slave room (D'Adamo 1). It moves to different places throughout the story (D'Adamo 5), but bases in the room with the looms.
The conflict on the slaves from Hussain Khan is won by Iqbal later in the story (D'Adamo 82). Hussain Khan has power over the slaves and the slaves cannot escape.
The theme in the story is that hope is always available. You can choose to have hope or just give up. Hope is in everyone and you have hope everyday even if you don't think it.
The social issues in Iqbal are that all the slaves don't have the choice of whether they can go into the real world or not (D'Adamo 11). The slave masters have all power over the slaves.
Iqbal mentioning the kite gave Fatima and Iqbal a sense of mind where they know they can escape. Iqbal says that they would fly a kite when they escape.
